I haven't made enough progress on Clue #2 (or any other project) to report today, so I'll share two quilts which were finished, and which were the quilts chosen for inclusion in the Art in Craft Media 2017 show at the Burchfield Penney. The first is a 2017 piece by Emily Bellinger, and is entitled 'Fractured Memories'. It is listed as 60 x 66 inches, and is beautifully pieced and quilted.
The second quilt is by Jack Edson, and is entitled 'Self Portrait'. Also a 2017 piece, this is 72 x 52 and is lightly hand quilted. It must be seen both from a distance, and up close. I like that Jack incorporates traditional quilt blocks in his pieces, which are far from traditional.
What amazes me about this quilt (and others of his that I have seen - Jack was until his recent retirement our local librarian!) is his ability to get the values right on his fabric scraps.
It was nice to see quilting acknowledged as art at this show. If you are in or near the Western New York area, the show runs through January 28, 2018.
I am hoping to get some of the flying geese blocks which are Clue #2 done today. Clue #3 will be here before I know it.
Day 5 of the 31 day Challenge is done. I am running a sale of the items remaining this year in my ETSY shop. Check it out on the side button of this blog!
