Blog Writing Challenge - Day 2 - Museum Visit

Earlier this week, I visited the Burchfield Penney Art Gallery, in Buffalo, NY, which has a juried exhibition entitled Art in Craft Media 2017.  Fascinating pieces, and naturally, I forgot to take pictures of the artist information, but was able to look some information up.   The piece above, entitled Book of Longings 2017 by Jeanne Raffer Beck, was a large wall hanging made from metallic pieces and chains.  The shapes and colors really caught my eye!
The piece below was small (12 inches square),  and was made from magnolia leaves which had been cut.  It is entitled Off Grid, by Hillary Fayle.
This was a stunning piece by  Brigid Kennedy, entitled Play, made from fiber, adhesive and monofilament, and was hung from the ceiling.
There were two quilts included in the show, as well as several very unique other pieces of fabric art.  More on those in upcoming days!

Take care,
Gretchen
